Parquetry can be installed over any flat and level properly prepared substrate, or subfloor. This may include a concrete slab, particleboard, plywood or timber floorboards. Parquetry can be installed over tiles, but it is not recommended.
The look and feel of a Parquetry Floor adds beauty and originality to every room it is installed in.
The National Wood Flooring Association of America reports that hardwood floors increase the saleability of a home by 75% according to real estate agents. And 9 out of 10 agents state that homes with hardwood floors will sell for a higher profit.
The reasons for this are simple: parquetry flooring is a sustainable, high-end luxury product, aesthetically pleasing to the eye and easy to clean and maintain.
Because parquet is made of wood, it gives a feeling of warmth to the area where you install it. Plus, wood flooring has always been a reference when we think of comfort and luxury.
To add design to the floor, parquet flooring is laid in all kinds of beautiful patterns and the wood can be stained different colours. This is the main reason why it is used in homes and hotels throughout the world.
What other benefits does a Parquetry floor have?
You can look forward to many compliments and conversations about the beauty and desirability of your home when you have a parquetry floor installed. A Parquetry floor will suit just about any fine furniture, kitchen, artwork or space you can think of! We have designs, and colours to match any requirement you may have.
There are also health benefits with a wooden floor. Unlike carpets and rugs, which can harbour dust, dirt and allergens, parquet flooring is smooth and provides no place for dust to accumulate. This is an excellent choice for people with allergies and families with young children.
What makes a Parquet floor unique?
Every Parquet floor is unique. It can vary by pattern and the choice of timber. If you are looking for something that reflects your style, then this would be a great option for you. To ensure each tile is unique, materials are combined and then cut before they are installed. Each floor will have varying types of wood with varying colours and grains. No two are the same when it comes to parquet flooring.
Is Parquetry environmentally responsible?
Parquetry floors are the most sustainable and environmentally responsible wood flooring. Each Parquetry component is a solid block of wood, and because it doesn’t have a tongue and groove like floorboards it can be refinished many times in its lifetime.
Can recycled wood be used?
We offer a range of recycled parquetry designs made by cutting parquetry blocks out of old disused floorboards which have an aged look and wonderful patina.
How are the blocks attached to the floor?
We Love Parquet recommends Parquetry flooring be installed using water based PVA as an adhesive that will allow future floor removal with minimal damage. Polyurethane glue is unsuitable for future re use of timber as any attempt to pull up the floor in future will destroy the timber and subfloor.
Parquetry can be adhered directly to a prepared substrate or sub-floor, this means the floor has the durability to last for centuries.
What species of timber are used in Parquetry?
Parquetry is available in a wide variety of timber species including Australian hardwoods such as Jarrah, Blackbutt and Tallowwood
How much does Parquetry flooring cost?
Parquetry flooring is a superior flooring option, due to the materials and work involved. Each floor will have its own requirements based on your preferences and the rooms in which it will be laid and these will determine time and costs. You should think of a Parquetry floor as the Mercedes or BMW of timber flooring, these are quality floors that are designed to last decades and not fail.
Working with wood requires thoughtful attention and planning. Taking some time to design a floor from the ground up will last you many years. When and if you decide to sell your property your floor will add value and desirability to your home.
